Privacy Policy

Essex Referees Association uses and protects any information that you give and applies to the Essex Referees Association, all branches of Local RAs and all members of Local RAs on behalf of the Essex Referees Association.
It applies to all data that the Essex Referees Association holds relating to individual members in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations of May 2018.  The Policy helps to protect the Essex Referees Association from data security risks including breaches of confidentially, failure to offer choice of individual members to choose which data relating to them is used.
The Essex Referees Association is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified, then  you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.
This Policy is effective as from the date of 20th May 2019

About Essex RA

The Essex County Referees Association is affiliated to the national body The Referees Association (RA).   For over 100 years the Essex County RA has looked after the interests of referees within the County and helped in providing post-graduate training to cover the finer aspects of the Laws of the Game giving assistance whenever needed.

The main aims of the association are to:

  1. Recruit new members

  2. Improve the status and standard of referees

  3. Protect members from injustice or unfair treatment

  4. Assist and take action, legal or otherwise (with the assistance of The RA where necessary) ,on behalf of any member who has been unfairly treated.

  5. Promote the interests of referees in general

Both The FA and the Essex County FA strongly recommend that every referee should become a member of The Referees Association. The first year is free and new Trainees completing the Referees Course will subject to their consent will be registered as members.

In Essex there are six Local Ras affiliated to the Essex County RA, and they hold monthly meetings throughout the season. At these meetings guest speakers are invited,in-service training is held to give members the opportunity to refresh and improve their knowledge of the Laws and to discuss any problems they may have had during their games.

The Referees Association membership fee includes Personal Accident Insurance which covers you whilst refereeing, travelling to and from matches, attending meetings ,organised training and loss of refereeing equipment whilst at a game plus loss of personal clothing and effects. Assistance may also be given to members who are unable to work through an accident or illness, upon application to the Benevolent Fund. For the cost of one match fee you can become a member by contacting your Local RA on the list shown or direct to the Essex County RA Membership Secretary at bchallis@brianchallis.co.uk
