Essex's George Lowe named as National RA Chairperson

Following on from the AGM on Wednesday 30th June, The RA are excited to announce our new Chair and President.

At the end of the AGM, we saw our long-standing Chair, Paul Field, step down after serving 11 years on The RA Board, 5 of these as Chair. Paul has now been promoted to the role of RA President.

The new Board held its first meeting straight after the AGM to decide on a new RA Chair.

After a round of voting, it was concluded that George Lowe would be appointed as the RA Chair for the 2021/2022 Season.

George was first involved with The RA in 2013 where he joined the RA-FA Youth Council (now the NYRDT) as a Regional Representative progressing to Vice-Chair before stepping down to join The RA in 2018 as an Honorary Officer.

Since then, George has worked on the digital footprint of The RA including the development of our new website and member’s area. After a short break away from The RA, to undertake the role of Referee Development Officer for Essex FA, George re-joined in 2020 to continue to enhance The RA digital presence.

George had this to say about the appointment. “I feel honoured to be able to serve the members of this great organisation. I look forward to not only continuing to develop our digital offering, but also ensuring members of all abilities and backgrounds are given the opportunity to be the best referee they can be and are provided the best support and representation possible. There are exciting times ahead for The RA and I feel privileged to be able to play such a vital role in driving the organisation forwards.”

Everyone involved in refereeing in Essex is very proud of George and we wish him all the best for the new season!
